I'll be meeting this man in Ghana over autumn. He teaches in Japan and has a very informative blog that goes over his projects: http://earthbagbuilding.wordpress.com/2010/04/

There is a radio program that is great and related to the environment, engineering, and education: http://www.bioneers.org/radio/2009-series/2009-radio-series

Here is a website of an NGO that is in its latter stages of development. Its a great example of what I am trying to do with natural building in Africa with the Abetenim Project but more focused on orphans and health:

The Work in Progress

There is a lot of nature around here in rural Tennessee, its been an organic connection. Right now i am taking a small break to visit another intentional community in Chattanooga called moon shadow. I guess there is a time for responsibilities, work, inspiration, and gaining support. My travels lately have been giving me inspiration and an opportunity to learn from the trenches of mistakes a lot of these communities go through. I am also getting a lot more perspective on what the future could look like given with the resources available to us. There somehow is a destined journey that builds on wherever we have been and what our ancestors have handed down to us from their life experience.

Lately I've enjoyed architecture that is organic and environmentally sustainable. I also thinking about the integration of sociology (all 3.5 years of my education) into architecture and community development. There is architecture out there that is more conducive to a healthy lifestyle which includes: community, nature, sustainable sources (making your own food garden, disposing our own waste, generating of saving energy, maintaining closed regenerative systems). I believe that work in this direction could take advantage of my dad's expertise in contracting. This is because construction contracting deals with the essentials of making cooperative agreements, cutting edge designs, construction, creations of a viable business, and making houses into homes.

The modern homes have served a historical function, whether if its essentials humanity's requirement to industrialize or individuals need to give certain people their specific lifestyle (currently and most dominantly, the suburban-consumerist growth). Exposed by many vibrational signs, this earth will go through a tipping point soon (2012?), time has historically moved in jolted advances, brace yourself. Just as we walk towards the fulcrum of a seesaw, the momentum of nature will project this next generation into a more conscious effort, a strive for more fulfillment rather than comfort. Humanity will reach another polar axis and a new direction. As previous generations have supplied this current generation with the capabilities of the internet, comfortable homes, education, and wisdoms learned from wars - this current generation will be forced to respond from it.

I asked a friend of mine whether there could be a modest revolutionary. What i meant by 'revolutionary' is someone who is influential enough to radiate their energy and make shifts beyond themselves and their immediate community. I want to see positive changes, but i also want to be modest and unimposing. Ideally there would be a mutual nourishment between myself and the people who want to grow with me towards a more equitable future between all dynamics. I look up to leaders like ghandi, Jesus, david korton, alex grey, Stephen Gaskin - all who had intelligence, luck, charisma, endurance far beyond myself. Although i have realized my entelechy of potential, being a 21 year old, amidst the my heroes i feel resigned from becoming a revolutionary due to my limits (I have only so much discipline, so much energy). What my sage friend Carol said was that in all situations no matter whom the situation is between between, its not really between you and the other, but rather the best reaction will emerge from that peace we have with ourselves (this is very applicable to breakups and measuring up to goals). She says that we will fall into patterns and make peace with our capabilities and their limits; it will look more evident when I am 40 with a 10 year old kid and a regular job. As long as i have peace between what i know i can do and what i am doing, i can challenge myself at the optimal amount rather than my forced amount, through that i am sure i will be part of a revolution. I dont have to be called a revolutionary.

Revolutionaries have a difficult time being modest because they have to be confident to the questions with answers. The truth is i dont have the answer for most things. I have only developed a good taste for what is good and what more good can be done because i have seen a fair amount of the world. Traveling has allowed me to see what humans have and have done within certain circumstances. No one has the answer because the shift of time make reality too dynamic. So if anyone tells you they have truth, they also have lies. Authority has the wierdest relationship with revolution and i am hyper sensitive about telling people what should be done because its pissed me off when people told me what to do. So.. conclusion, id like to cooperate with anyone who is thinking 'revolutionarily' because only together are we a revolution.

Here's what can be done. If people tap into the the collective conscious and realize the truths, which are universal to all religion and higher thought, we could gather around the understanding of the cycles that create balance and the understanding that we are souls of a common spirit. If we recognize the current imbalance (aka knowledge), whether if its in power, the lack of or surplus in resources or the amounts of interaction between people we need to be with, we can re-balance what we can through what we are gifted with and do this is a spirit that transcends us beyond the intentions of the self but for the intentions that make the universe feel better. The biggest tip is to live diversely and collectively: get inspired, share, interact, cooperate - its essential.

for me i think all this can be done passively through working with natural building, mind expanding plants, music making, writing, reflection, conversing (listening and talking) etc etc.

this is whats going on in natural building: http://www.greenhomebuilding.com/
- imagine if we breathed in inspiration and beauty instead of commercial fabrication, thats what natural building can do for your constructed environment.
